How it all started...
On January 24, 2001, sixteen people met with Pastor Tom Nieman from Galilee Baptist Church of Kent, WA, to discuss forming a new Baptist church in Chewelah. This group spent the next several weeks developing the Articles of Faith, Church Covenant, Church Constitution, and Church Policies.
On April 21, 2001, those attending voted unanimously to form Chewelah Baptist Church. Membership applications were collected and on May 27, 2001, we had 31 founding members of our new church.
On September 30, 2001, Pastor Dan Cleghorn accepted a unanimous call to become the first pastor of Chewelah Baptist Church. Pastor Cleghorn served as our pastor until retiring on May 30, 2023.
On June 13, 2023, Missionary Chris Robertson accepted a unanimous call to become the second pastor of Chewelah Baptist Church. Chris and his wife Elizabeth served as missionary church planters in Mexico for 19 years. Our church was an early supporter of their ministry and we eagerly welcomed them to be a part of our community.

Where we are headed...
The Church is supposed to change the world with the knowledge of truth. With a world that is undergoing radical, disruptive changes at an accelerating speed, we are steadfast in our commitment to preach the Gospel of Christ and let the Holy Spirit change the hearts of men and women.
"Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." Matt 5:14-16
